Sisi’s call for national dialogue boosts freedoms, development

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi call for a national dialogue among all political parties gives a boost to political freedom, Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria Samy Fawzy said.

“This call goes hand in hand with the State’s economic and social development efforts,” Fawzy added in a statement Sunday.

He noted the president’s initiative had been widely welcomed by many political forces, as well as religious and political institutions looking forward to fruitful results that serve the common good.

Fawzy also wished Egypt further progress, prosperity, and political stability.

PM affirms strength of Egypt-US strategic ties

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli affirmed the strength of Egypt-US strategic ties in the various spheres.

During a meeting organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham Egypt) on Monday, Madbouli noted that the US is considered one of the most important trading partners for Egypt.

US investments in Egypt cover several avenues, including, inter alia, infrastructure and energy, Madbouli added during the meeting which was held within the framework of a visit by the GreenTech Business delegation to Egypt.

The US supports the private sector as well as efforts to promote the business environment in Egypt, he added.

Egypt seeks to spur its economic growth and increase its GDP, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and Russian-Ukraine conflict, he added.

PM vows firm action against encroachments on state-owned lands

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli reiterated on Monday that the State bodies will continue taking strict measures against any encroachment on state-owned lands.

The premier made the remarks at a meeting with Local Development Minister Mahmoud Sharawy and Housing Minister Assem el Gazzar to follow up on the progress made in removing encroachments on state-owned lands and reconciliation over building violations.

The prime minister referred to efforts made by the authorities concerned to offer facilitation for citizens willing to legalize their status as regards the building code violations.

For his part, Shaarawy said that 2.8 million reconciliation requests have been submitted till the end of March last year, including 1.6 million requests in villages.

A technical committee is currently considering the reconciliation requests to make sure that all safety measures are adopted, the minister added.

Meanwhile, Gazzar reviewed the status of reconciliation requests in building violations in the new cities.

PM probes cooperation opportunities with UAE, Jordan

The political leaders in Egypt, UAE, and Jordan attach great importance to achieving integration in various industries to serve the interests of their peoples, affirmed Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli.

This integration is also envisioned to serve as a seed for greater inter-Arab cooperation, the premier added during his meeting Monday with Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea to discuss opportunities for enhancing industrial cooperation between the three Arab nations.

The meeting, which was also attended by Executive Director of the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) Mohamed Abdel Karim and Adviser to the Trade and Industry Minister Hatem el Ashry, tackled ways to capitalize on cooperation opportunities by investing in the competitive advantages of each country, such as availability of raw material, labor, technological capabilities, business enabling environment and consumer market.

The meeting also tackled the ability to expand into adjacent markets, in order to fulfil the three countries’ needs of different products commodities and reduce their imports.

Environment Minister heads for Maldives for Glasgow-Sharm el-Sheikh Work Program

Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad, the Ministerial Coordinator and Envoy of the COP27 Climate Conference, headed on Monday to Maldives to attend the launch of the Glasgow-Sharm el-Sheikh Work Program on the Global Goal on Adaptation.

Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will attend the two-day event alongside Patricia Espinosa, the Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change·


In a statement on Monday, she said the Maldives president will inaugurate a workshop on the global goal on adaptation which will be held at the ministerial level.


She underlined the importance of the global goal on adaptation which is one of the outcomes of the Glasgow conference.



The global goal on adaptation (GGA) is a key objective of the Paris Agreement, and aims to enhance adaptive capacity, resilience, and reduce vulnerability in the context of holding global temperature rise below 1.5 degrees C.
