Around 1.3 million surgical operations at a total cost worth EGP 11.6 million have been performed under the presidential initiatives to improve public health over the past few years, said Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister and Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar.
Speaking at a press conference in New Alamein City on Thursday 4/8/2022, Abdel Ghaffar said that President Sisi was briefed on the latest developments related to the urgent waiting lists for surgical procedures, which are held within the framework of the presidential initiatives.
President Sisi issued directives to continue the presidential initiatives in this respect and provide the necessary funding to ensure the continuity of such initiatives and shorten patient waiting lists to ensure that they do not exceed 3 weeks, added Abdel Ghaffar.
Speaking about the higher education and scientific research sector, Abdel Ghaffar said that as part of his ministry’s preparations to start the new academic year, President Sisi made sure that the new academic year would start on time.
The minister, meanwhile, said that 11 new universities along with six technological universities will be ready to receive students as of this year.
In this regard, President Sisi issued directives that the offered curriculums and programs in these universities should meet the local and international labor market needs, added Abdel Ghaffar.
President Sisi also directed to continue supporting the establishment of the Egyptian Academy of Mathematical Sciences, he further added.
