US Secretary of State arrives in Cairo

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived on Sunday 29/1/2023 on a two-day visit to Egypt.

During his stay, Blinken will meet with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and a number of senior Egyptian officials to discuss means of advancing the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as enhancing regional security and stability.

Blinken’s visit to Egypt is part of a regional tour that will take him also to Israel and the West Bank.

The US Embassy in Cairo quoted Blinken as saying his fourth visit to the region affirms the US’s strong commitment to deepening bilateral relations and bonds among peoples, promoting human rights and bolstering regional and world security.

Shoukry and Blinken are due to hold a joint press conference on Monday at the premises of the Foreign Ministry.
