Amman: President of the University of Jordan, Nathir Obaidat signed scientific and academic memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with a number of universities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in Erbil on Monday as a culmination of the success of the Jordan-Kurdistan Higher Education Forum.

The signing of the MoUs comes on the sidelines of the Jordan-Kurdistan Higher Education Forum 2024, which was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in coordination and cooperation with the Kurdistan Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB).

Obeidat said that the University of Jordan sought, through signing the MoUs with Kurdish universities, to consolidate academic relations and establish a suitable ground for cooperation between universities, believing in the need to exchange experiences, as they have a great impact on enriching and developing institutional, academic, and research performance in the renewed knowledge society.

Obeidat affirmed his
shared vision with the Kurdish side to encourage cultural and student exchange and to establish joint scientific and research projects and programs for the benefit of the Jordanian and Kurdish sides.

In addition, Kurdish university presidents expressed their happiness to establish scientific and academic relations with the University of Jordan, due to its prestigious international reputation and its historical achievements on international ranking scales.

The University of Jordan has signed MoUs with the Kurdistan Council for Medical Specialties, Salahuddin University, Erbil Technical University, Erbil Medical Center, Suran, Koyeh, Kurdistan-He Wolir Medical Center, Czech Medical Center, Jehan, Nulj, Lebanese French University, Erbil International University, Bayan, and Cat?lic University.

Obeidat will continue his tour to Kurdish universities in Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk governorates to conclude more cooperation agreements over the next two days.
