UN official commends Dubai Humanitarian for efficient flow of relief material worldwide


DUBAI: Alex Marianelli, the Director of Supply Chain for the UN World Food Programme, commended the efforts of Dubai Humanitarian, formerly known as the International Humanitarian City in Dubai, for improving the safety and security of humanitarian centres.

In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the Global Meeting at The Meydan Hotel, Dubai, to unveil its new identity “Dubai Humanitarian,” Marianelli said that humanitarian operations have evolved with Dubai Humanitarian for nearly 20 years and continue to grow. He also mentioned that all international organisations working in the field of humanitarian work are proud of their partnership with Dubai Humanitarian City.

The UN official highlights UAE’s financial support for humanitarian groups like WFP, elaborating on how Dubai government’s backing, through Dubai Humanitarian, helps WFP expand its operations. ‘They assist with administrative tasks.’

He commended Dubai Humanitarian’s digital efforts and technology solutions. “This a
llows WFP to work closely in the region and receive logistical support from the UAE.”
