Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi on Friday inaugurated the African Weightlifting Championship, hosted by Egypt from October 27 to November 1 at the Cairo Stadium Indoor Halls Complex.

Egyptian sport is at the top of the state’s priorities, receiving great support from the political leadership, the minister said during the opening ceremony.

He added that Egypt is waiting for outstanding achievements from its weightlifting champions in the Paris Olympics 2024.
