Cairo: Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly met with Minister of Culture Jehan Zaki to review the ministry's strategic objectives and activities for February to April 2026. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the cultural sector in reinforcing positive cultural values and bolstering Egypt's soft power as part of Egypt's Vision 2030.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Zaki outlined the ministry's strategic objectives, starting with 'protecting national security' by strengthening soft power, developing cultural institutions, preserving cultural heritage, and supporting cultural industries. This includes nurturing talent, supporting cultural education, promoting cultural tourism, and upgrading infrastructure.
The second strategic objective is 'building the citizen'. This involves embedding positive values in society, promoting equitable distribution of cultural institutions, and combating ideological extremism. The minister also discussed institutional reforms, including administrative, financial, and legislative changes to improve efficiency and expand partnerships with civil society and the private sector.
Minister Zaki reviewed the development of cultural sites across Egypt, targeting various governorates for cultural equity in line with the 'Hayah Karima' initiative. Efforts are being made to enhance the theatre sector, maximize resources, and strengthen partnerships with private entities.
The ministry is collaborating with other ministries, including Youth and Sports, Communications and Information Technology, and Health, to advance its objectives. International cooperation and cultural diplomacy activities for the reviewed period were also presented.
Efforts in digital transformation were highlighted, with the launch of applications like the 'Kitab' app, a digital library, and the 'Memory of the City' app for historic Cairo. The ministry is working with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to deploy AI applications to support its activities.
