PM Follows Up on Implementation Status of Projects in New Capital

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, that the New Capital represents a transformative development, designed to be a smart and sustainable city with international standards, serving as Egypt's administrative, cultural, and economic hub. During a meeting at the government headquarters in the New Capital with Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), Madbouly reviewed the implementation status of various projects.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the New Capital includes residential districts built in various architectural styles, alongside administrative and recreational services, creating an investment-friendly environment for local and international investors. Thousands of employees and visitors are currently present in the Government District, with the number of residents steadily increasing. The recently operational Cairo Monorail, an advanced mass transit system, is witnessing strong public interest.

The prime minister emphasized directives to accelerate the operation of several projects and service buildings, including the Arts and Culture City, Olympic City, Green River, and commercial outlets. Continuous maintenance of roads and buildings is also prioritized to preserve investments.

Khaled Abbas highlighted efforts to expand and improve services in the city, aiming to establish the capital as a model for smart sustainable cities. He mentioned the high-quality services, including the monorail, as modern and environmentally friendly. Abbas also noted ongoing preparations to operate various service buildings and award contracts to major operators for restaurants and caf©s, with trial operations of the Green River already underway.

Restaurants and caf©s overlooking the lake within the Green River area are being prepared for operation. Abbas discussed maintenance measures in the Arts and Culture City, including theater approvals, T‚¬Å¡¬¦€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦€š¬…€œV safety certificates, and training of technical staff for optimal operation. The Arts and Culture City has hosted over 120 visits from heads of state and international figures, alongside numerous key events and entertainment concerts.

Promotional efforts for the Arts and Culture City include events and performances, such as an upcoming concert by Andrea Bocelli on May 26, part of a series aimed at promoting the city as a global cultural and artistic destination.
