PM follows up executive status of development plans of public pharmaceuticals’ companies

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli asserted that the State has been deeply interested in upgrading the pharmaceuticals industry and introducing the latest technologies applied in it with the objective of localizing the industry and achieving self-sufficiency of medicines with high quality and at affordable prices for all citizens upon directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The premier’s remarks were made during a meeting chaired by Madbouli to follow up the development plans of the pharmaceuticals companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Medicines, Chemicals, and Medical Supplies, one of the public enterprises sector companies.

Minister of Public Enterprises Mahmoud Essmat, Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply and Technology Management (AUPP) Bahaa Eldin Zedan and Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) attended the meeting.

Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said the meeting covered the status of plans to develop pharmaceutical companies affiliated to the holding company so as to comply with the requirements of good manufacturing and EDA conditions in order to enhance the Egyptian products’ competitiveness in foreign markets.

Meanwhile, Essmat reviewed efforts and coordination among the various local and foreign pharmaceutical companies to localize the modern technologies used in the medicine industry as well as establishing joint ventures in this regard in order to manufacture many pharmaceutical products for chronic diseases along with the necessary raw materials.
