IRAN: SEIZING 765 KILOGRAMS OF OPIUM IN FARS PROVINCE WITHIN TWO DAYS

Iranian security announced the seizure of 765 kilograms of opium and hashish during the past two days, according to “Russia Today” news agency. The commander of the Internal Security Forces in Fars province, Brigadier General Reham Bakhsh Habibi, said today, Monday, that “the employees of the Internal Security Forces in the city of Darab, while they were patrolling the dirt and bypass roads behind the village of Qalatawi, found a suspicious vehicle and instructed it to stop, but the driver fled, indifferent to orders.” In this context, he added, “the policemen chased the car and, after covering a distance, opened fire at the vehicle and stopped it in accordance with the law on the use of weapons.” Habibi said: “During the search of the car, 192 kilograms and 300 grams of hashish, five kilograms and 700 grams of opium were found, and the drug smuggler was arrested.”
