Cairo: The Ministry of Higher Education has launched the “Save It. Light It” campaign across universities and institutes to promote awareness about energy conservation and enhance its efficiency. This initiative aims to engage academic institutions in energy-saving practices and improve energy usage.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the campaign includes several measures such as reducing fuel consumption in university transport systems, implementing energy-efficient lighting solutions, and expanding the use of solar energy units within campuses. Higher Education Minister Abdel Aziz Qansoua stressed that energy conservation is a collective national responsibility.
The campaign also seeks to encourage university students to adopt energy-saving habits both on campus and at home, with the intention of spreading these practices throughout their communities. It features seminars, student competitions, and practical initiatives designed to educate and engage students in energy conservation efforts.
In addition to on-campus activities, the ministry plans to launch a digital campaign on social media platforms, utilizing videos and infographics to reach a wider audience. The aim is to foster a culture of energy efficiency and sustainability among the youth and the broader community.
