Higher education min. receives UNICEF representative

Minister of Higher Education and Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar received on Monday Representative of UNICEF in Egypt Jeremy Hopkins to discuss boosting cooperation between the Health Ministry and the UNICEF in accordance with the vision of the Egyptian state and its priorities.

Abdel Ghaffar thanked UNICEF for efforts exerted to back the Egyptian health sector to contribute to improving the health services to citizens.

The meeting tackled boosting cooperation between the ministry and UNICEF within the coming five years as of 2023, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.

The meeting asserted the importance of paying attention to the mental health of the children especially those diagnosed with autism and ADHD via training medical teams to deal with them and raising the awareness of their families on how they should deal with them in order to bring up a generation capable of safe coexistence with the community, Abdel Ghaffar said.

The meeting took up the restructure of the primary health care system in Egypt according to the standards of the comprehensive health insurance as part of the plan of UNICEF in cooperation with the Ministry of Health in addition to activating the e-system concerned with family planning and vaccination of children, he said.

The meeting also discussed organzing training workshops for doctors in the medical centers and units on the right application of the program of the health of family and baby, he said.

The meeting tackled means of cooperation in facing the coronavirus pandemic via providing the preventive equipment for the workers in the health sector, he added.

The minister asserted the importance of benefiting from the expertise of the UNICEF in the field of school nutrition as part of the strategy of the ministry to improve it according to the standards of food safety, Abdel Ghaffar said.

Meanwhile, Hopkins lauded the efforts exerted in the health sector in Egypt, asserting the keenness of the UNICEF on continuing presenting all aspects of support to the Egyptian state.
