Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar visited the Nasr City health insurance hospital to assess the progress of development and efficiency enhancement efforts. This visit forms part of his regular field inspections aimed at monitoring improvements within the healthcare system.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar provided a detailed overview of the hospital’s operational capacity during the tour. The hospital houses 464 beds, consisting of 398 inpatient beds, 66 intensive care beds, 11 emergency and reception beds, 11 operating rooms, 18 incubators, and 31 dialysis machines.
The spokesman noted that the minister inspected several critical medical departments, including the bacteriology laboratory, to confirm the availability of essential medical equipment. The inspection also covered the hematology lab and blood bank, emphasizing the importance of equipping these areas with advanced medical technologies and confirming the presence of a plasma separation device.
The minister’s tour also included the blood storage unit and CT scan department, where he assessed the availability of trained technical staff. The first phase of the hospital’s development project, now operational, encompasses central laboratories, pharmacies, a blood bank, and a new intensive care unit with a capacity of 11 beds.
Renovation works for the central sterilization department and laundry unit have been completed and are expected to become operational within the next three months.
