Health Minister Evaluates Progress at Badr Central Labs and El Obour Hospital


Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar inspected the Central Laboratories Complex in Badr City and El Obour General Hospital in Qalyubiya governorate. The inspections are part of ongoing field visits to monitor progress and address implementation challenges.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Health Ministry Spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar stated that during the minister’s visit to the Central Laboratories Complex, he reviewed the engineering designs and construction progress. The main building, spanning 7,700 square meters across four floors within a total project area of 40,000 square meters, was a focal point of the visit.



The complex’s development is being executed in two phases, with the first phase estimated at EGP 1.375 billion and the second at EGP 2 billion. The minister highlighted the strategic importance of the complex, which is designed to meet international standards for advanced laboratory services. Architectural designs were praised, and it was noted that completion rates have exceeded 90%. The project is anticipated to be finalized by the end of April 2026, with trial operations starting in July 2026.



In addition, the minister toured El Obour General Hospital, where construction is 99% complete. Covering a total area of 16,700 square meters, the hospital will feature 189 beds, including 122 inpatient beds, 47 intensive care beds, 20 neonatal incubators, and 20 dialysis units, alongside five operating rooms. The hospital is being built at an estimated cost of EGP 520 million and aims to serve nearly one million citizens in El Obour and surrounding areas.
