The Planning and Economic Development Ministry said the government expenditure on the health sector reached 572 billion Egyptian pounds in the period ranging between 2014 and 2021 with a 285 percent growth rate, according to a report by the ministry.
The report highlighted efforts exerted over the past eight years concerning upgrading health services offered to people.
Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el Saeed said the annual government spending allocated to the health sector increased to 109 billion Egyptian pounds in 2021/2022 from 31 billion Egyptian pounds in 2013/2014 with a growth rate of 252 percent.
Investments in health exceeded 132 billion Egyptian pounds in the relevant period with a growth rate of 450 percent, she said.
Saeed added that annual public investments allocated to health were up to 54 billion Egyptian pounds in 2021/2011 from 3.7 billion Egyptian pounds, with a growth rate exceeding 1.360 percent.
Saeed asserted the political leadership is very interested in the health care of citizens, as the milestone of building humans.
The 2022/2023 plan is aiming to allocate public investments that will be estimated at 45.9 billion Egyptian pounds to carry out several initiatives and development projects aimed at upgrading and improving medical services, the minister pointed out.
