Fouad attends Climate Technology Forum on WGS’s sidelines in Dubai

Environment Minister, Ministerial Coordinator and COP27 Envoy Yasmine Fouad asserted the importance of providing technologies and necessary financing and building capabilities in order to honor pledges made at the 2022 global climate conference, COP27.

Fouad said it is important to cooperate will all parties concerned to build on the outputs of COP27 and pave the way for COP28 as far as losses, damage, mitigation and adaptation programs are concerned, according to a press release by the Environment Ministry here.

Addressing a dialogue session of the Climate Technology Forum, held on the sidelines of the 2023 World Government Summit in Dubai, UAE, she talked about mechanisms for bridging gaps between obligations and aspirations to implement all the pledges on the ground.

Fouad spotlighted pressing topics to figure high on the agenda of COP28 and pointed out to recommendations of COP27, including fair transition to clean energy, upping sources of climate finance, in addition to transferring technology, building capabilities and promoting mitigation and adaptation efforts.

She affirmed the industry sector is an important player in facing climate change, saying youth play an active role in climate action as makers of change.

Fouad headed earlier to the UAE to attend WGS in Dubai city, given that Egypt is participating in the three-day gathering as a guest of honor.
