Egypt to remain committed to pioneering role in settling conflicts

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid stressed that Egypt will remain committed to its pioneering role in settling conflicts and building peace as it is one of the founders of the United Nations

On Twitter, the spokesman said there is a dire need for cherishing the values of the UN charter as the world is marking the 77th anniversary of putting it into effect.

The spokesman shared a video under the theme of “today marks the 77th anniversary of establishing the international organization and Egypt’s ratification of its charter as a founding member.”

The video highlighted the pioneering role played by Egypt in the UN as well as the statements delivered by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at the UN General Assembly meetings.

It also reviewed the participation of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in the UN General Assembly meetings and Egypt’s contributions to the UN peacekeeping forces.

It also referred to the appointment of late Boutros Boutros-Ghali as the sixth secretary general from 1992-1996.
