Egypt supports Arab-Chinese cooperation mechanism

Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi asserted Egypt is supporting the Arab-Chinese cooperation mechanism and developing institutional mechanisms to ensure regularity of its convocation.

The measure is meant to maximize joint interests and benefit and probe ways of facing developmental challenges and boosting cooperation in general among countries of the south, added Radi in remarks to the press delegation accompanying President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in the Saudi capital Riyadh Friday.

The move is also aimed to probe priorities of keeping international security and peace, as China is a major country worldwide, added Radi.

Bilateral cooperation between the two sides comes in line with the international order, based on UN Charter and international law, he said.

Radi added Egypt is well aware that Arab-Chinese cooperation is promoting international efforts aimed at pushing forward just peacemaking in the Middle East region as per UN resolutions.

Rady said President Sisi, during his meeting with President of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, stressed Egypt’s firm stance in preserving the security and stability of Sudan and supporting it at the regional and international levels.

Sisi underlined Egypt’s support for the political framework agreement, which was signed this month regarding the transitional period in Sudan, the spokesman added.

This deal is an important step to establish principles related to governance structures in Sudan and support the Sudanese State to render successful the political process through a Sudanese consensus that guarantees the stability and prosperity of Sudan, Sisi stressed.

Egypt fully supports efforts exerted by the Sovereignty Council to achieve political and security stability in Sudan based on the close link between the Egyptian and Sudanese national security and the historical ties that bind the peoples of the Nile Valley, the president noted.

They asserted the two countries’ genuine commitment to reach a binding legal agreement on the filling and operation of the dam in a way that achieves the common interests of all parties.

The president affirmed the importance of maintaining the strength and independence of the Sudanese national institutions, topped by the military.

Rady noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping, during his meeting with President Sisi, said Egypt is an important country and main entrance to China for the Middle East and Africa.

Xi asserted that his country counts on Egypt’s effective and pioneering role in the region in boosting the strategic partnership between China and the Arab countries.

Xi congratulated Sisi over Egypt’s successful organization of COP27 in November, Rady noted, pointing out that Sisi hailed the Chinese delegation’s effective and fruitful participation in the UN climate conference.

Sisi is expected to deliver a speech during the summit, in which he will review Egypt’s vision toward determinants of Arab-Chinese cooperation in the coming period.
