Cairo: Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif met with Hiroshima University President Mitsuo Ochi and his delegation to discuss the introduction of a financial literacy curriculum for secondary school students.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting focused on preparations for implementing this curriculum, with plans to sign a memorandum of understanding in collaboration with Japan's Sprix Foundation. Abdel Latif emphasized Egypt's interest in integrating Japan's educational models to enhance students' understanding of savings, investment, and entrepreneurship, equipping them better for economic challenges.
Abdel Latif highlighted the ongoing cooperation between Egypt and Japan in teaching programming and artificial intelligence through the 'KIRIO' platform, which has seen notable engagement from first-year secondary students. Students who excelled in the 'TOFAS' exam were awarded certificates from Hiroshima University, aiding in their skill development to meet digital economy needs.
The minister also pointed out the importance of expanding training and capacity-building efforts for educators to improve educational quality. Ochi reiterated Hiroshima University's dedication to strengthening collaboration with Egypt's Education Ministry, especially after successful joint programming and AI initiatives.
Discussions also included the signing of the MoU and strategies for implementing advanced teacher training in Japan, along with fostering student exchange programs to enhance international exposure and cultural understanding.
Both parties emphasized the need to continue cooperation to further the Egypt-Japan educational partnership, particularly in technological fields, to develop globally competitive students.
