China’s sees accelerated green development in manufacturing industry

BEIJING: China is witnessing accelerated green development in its manufacturing industry, with significant achievements in hydrogen energy and sustainable production of key materials, as reported by China Central Television citing an official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

Tao Qing, Director of the MIIT’s Operation Monitoring and Coordination Bureau, highlighted at a press briefing in Beijing the substantial reductions in energy required for producing construction materials and other products. This indicates notable advancements in China’s technological revolution and industrial transformation.

“China has made notable advancements in enhancing the energy efficiency of products within industries such as steel, primary aluminum, and cement clinker. Its energy utilisation structure has been continuously optimised. In key sectors like steel and petrochemicals, the country has also promoted typical application scenarios for green industrial microgrids,” she said.

So far, China
has established a total of 5,095 green factories, 371 green industrial parks and 605 green supply chain management enterprises at the national level.

According to Tao, these production facilities will increasingly rely on breakthroughs in energy production and storage, including clean hydrogen fuel.

The improvements in manufacturing practices have been accompanied by better availability of environmentally friendly products like new energy vehicles (NEVs), an area where China leads globally. In the first quarter, NEV production soared 28 percent, delivering more than 2.1 million units.
