Ajman 7?? International Environment Conference to be held next week with over 15 countries participating


AJMAN: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, the Ajman 7?? International Environment Conference is set to commence on 5th March under the theme, “Climate Neutral City 2050”.

The two-day event is organised by the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman City and will include participation from over 15 countries and dozens of international experts and specialists. The conference activities will take place at Ajman University – Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibition.

The conference will be attended by environmental experts and specialists from various sectors, including energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, municipalities, consulting firms, contracting companies, environmental agencies, private sectors, university graduates, and many individuals interested in environmental affairs, to address urgent environmental challenges.

, stated that the Ajman International Environment Conference serves as a platform for discussing ideas that support the state’s policy in enhancing sustainability and outlining a roadmap for achieving carbon neutrality.

The conference aims to support sustainable development in the UAE and establish a roadmap for achieving carbon neutrality.

Al Hosani continued by stating that the conference has achieved many successes and is committed to its path towards excellence.

He emphasised the importance of raising public awareness about environmental sustainability issues and the significance of modern planning, utilising and implementing the best and latest technologies. This contributes to understanding climate issues, construction materials, and development processes, helping to preserve the environment and its resources to meet the needs of society members. It also aids in maintaining a healthy and clean society within a sustainable environment.

The conference agenda includes five sessions and four workshops f
ocusing on the future of climate change and its impact on shaping our world. Day one features sessions on “The Future of Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation” and “The Energy Transition: A Key to Addressing Climate Change,” followed by workshops.

Day two begins with a session on “Shaping the Future for Net Zero Cities and Communities,” followed by two additional sessions. These include “Accelerating Climate Action with Technology and Innovation” and “Transition to Low-Carbon Infrastructure and Waste Circular Economy Systems,” each followed by workshops.

The conference will host the Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid International Sustainability Award, honouring excellence in four categories. Now in its second edition, the award aims to recognise and encourage sustainability initiatives, including research, individual contributions, and institutional practices.

Winners in categories such as Best Research, Best Personality, and Best Institution will be announced on the first day of the conference, highlighting
their significant contributions to environmental protection and sustainable development.
