Government: Eid al-Fitr holiday starts Thursday and through Monday

The end of Ramadan Eid al-Fitr official holiday starts on Thursday morning and ends Monday night, the Palestinian cabinet decided today.

It said work at government offices resumes as normal, that is seven hours a day instead of the current five hours work day during Ramadan.

The government also today decided to pay public employees 30 percent of their April salary to help them through the holiday finances while the remaining value will be paid in April.

KHATTAR RECEIVES INVITATION FROM RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR TO PARTICIPATE IN EXHIBITION ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECURITY IN MOSCOW

Director General of Civil Defense, Major General Raymond Khattar, on Tuesday received in his office, Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, who handed him an official invitation from Russian Minister for Civil Defense, Alexander Kurenkov, to participate in an exhibition on public safety and security, that will be held in the Russian capital, Moscow, from May 31 to June 3, 2023.

Israel issues stop-work order against 19 Palestinian-owned buildings in a West Bank town

The Israeli occupation authorities today issued stop-work orders against 19 Palestinian-owned buildings in the town of al-Zawiyeh, west of the northern West Bank city of Salfit.

Deputy mayor of al-Zawiyeh, Ghassan Shqeir, told WAFA that Israeli forces broke into the town and posted on walls and doors or handed local residents the stop-work orders that included a mosque, inhabited houses and others which are still in the construction stage in the northeastern parts of the town.

The stop-work orders are usually a prelude to demolishing the buildings.

Eight Palestinians injured during Israeli raid in Jenin camp

Eight Palestinians have Tuesday been injured during an Israeli military raid into the refugee camp of the Jenin.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, eight Palestinians were moved to the hospital after they were shot in the limps by Israeli soldiers and special undercover forces.

WAFA correspondent said that among the casualties is a 68-year-old Palestinian woman, who was shot in the hand. He added that a paramedic was injured with shrapnel.

Intense confrontations erupted between Israeli forces and Palestinians during a raid into the camp.

The forces were accompanied by military bulldozers as undercover special forces climbed the rooftops of houses.

Israeli forces prevented Red Crescent staff from entering the camp to help the casualties and even opened fire at ambulance.

WAFA correspondent added that the soldiers surrounded a house in the camp.

Daylight saving time in Palestine starts on April 29

The Daylight Saving Time (DST) is scheduled to start on Saturday, April 29.

The Government’s Spokesperson, Ibrahim Melehm, announced that Palestine would move towards summer time overnight Saturday, April 29, with clocks moved forward one hour, from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m., marking the start of DST.

CodersHQ empowers the community with concepts of 3D design and new trends of AI

DUBAI, CodersHQ, one of the National Program for Coders initiatives, organised recently an interactive workshop in collaboration with VRAcademi, titled “Learning to Create 3D Products Using VR” that witnessed significant turnout of participants who share an interest in coding and artificial intelligence. The workshop aimed to foster creativity, imagination, and digital design skills amongst the participants while introducing them to the latest 3D design techniques and trends in artificial intelligence. During the workshop, participants were presented with several successful case studies showcasing the application of virtual reality. The event also focused on the development of 3D design brainstorming skills, establishing a collective vision for sustainable cities through digital technologies, promoting environmental sustainability awareness, fostering the generation of technical ideas through creative arts and digital designs, and introducing emerging technologies such as Metaverse and virtual reality. The workshop, further delved into fundamental concepts related to visualization and digital art, explained the mechanism of creating a 3D design through virtual reality using Gravity Sketch, and covered other pertinent technical topics related to design and virtual reality (VR). Saqr Binghalib, Executive Director at the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office, stated that the new technological solutions serve to augment various aspects of digital development, contribute to the growth of new digital sectors, and inspire different segments of society, including children, students, and educators. The aim is to enhance their digital skills and foster proficiency in advanced digital mechanisms, thus supporting the developmental goals of the UAE. He added that the provision of experiences with the latest technological devices and solutions is instrumental in ensuring their successful adoption and effective implementation. This approach enables building a digitally empowered society that leverages the latest global digital technologies to their fullest potential. Sonal Ahuja, CO-founder and CEO of VRAcademi Specializing in AI, augmented and virtual reality applications London and Dubai discussed emerging trends in 3D design. Ahuja provided insights on ways to leverage Meta Quest 2 for creating 3D designs, including techniques for combining and printing designs to transform them from VR to real life. The session also covered fundamental principles of 3D product design and showcased inspiring case studies of innovative and successful 3D products.

Over 1,000 people participate in Walk for Inclusion

ABU DHABI, Attended by Sheikh Khalifa Bin Mohammed Bin Khalid Al Nahyan, ”Walk for Inclusion” took place on Hudayriat Island during the weekend. Over a thousand residents, families, and friends of People of Determination came together to mark and highlight the importance of inclusion and acceptance in society. The event was organised by Special Olympics UAE in partnership with the Department of Community Development and the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Special Education (MRC-NECC), managed by the New England Center for Children. The family-friendly evening included a 3km group walk, starting from the Abu Dhabi cycling track and going through Al Hudayriat Heritage Walk. Families, friends, and supporters of People of Determination walked together to raise awareness and educate society on the best ways to utilize their skills and integrate everyone socially. The walk also included several activities, provided by the community partners throughout the event to engage support groups and People of Determination and their families. Activities included photo booth and board games, sport activations, basic health checks for participants, and parents’ awareness talks by specialists. The walk also includes an awarding session for all participants and strategic partners in appreciation for their support. Talal Al Hashemi, National Director, Special Olympics UAE, said: “We were delighted to see the huge participation from the community in this event, as the numbers exceeded last year’s. With their special abilities and unique interests, People of Determination make such an impressive contribution to society.
