Decarbonization and shifting to zero-emissions would highly contribute to pressing ahead with further involving circular economy and generating future jobs, ElSaid said. She pointed out to the necessity of adapting current jobs to go with the new green model, saying that all drives would necessitate identifying required skills to build up toward an inclusive green economy.

ElSaid underscored the importance of rallying efforts of the public and the private sector in this regard, along with linking environment policies to efforts related to the education and training fields, to accelerate green job transition.

Meantime, she highlighted the importance of introducing green strategies into all academic curricula and the setting up of schools, along with technical technological universities to address green transformation needs.

Africa ‘most vulnerable continent’ to climate change impacts – FM

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Friday described Africa as the most vulnerable continent to climate change impacts.

According to several scientific reports, the world faces a dilemma that requires an acceleration of efforts, he told the “Accelerating adaptation in Africa” session of COP 27.

Hosted in Africa, COP 27 is expected to lead to achieving significant progress and adopting actionable measures on priority issues in the continent and developing countries, including adaptation and resilience efforts, he added.

The big challenge facing African countries is to obtain a viable financial plan to carry out their efforts, the foreign minister said.

Egypt, as the chairman of COP27 and as an African country, is well aware of the adaptation challenges that the continent faces and “we are pleased to have collaborated with the United States over the past year to develop a package of support for Africa to help this continent implement adaptation and mitigation programs,” he added.

Egypt and the US believe that this support should be innovative and lead to a real transformation, with no increase in the debt burden, Shoukry said.

To meet this challenge, “we announce the establishment of the Cairo-based Africa Center to enhance resilience, solve adaptation problems, boost Africa’s capabilities, and meet the needs of most developing countries,” he added.
