FM welcomes role of Friedrich Ebert Foundatio

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry welcomed on Sunday the role played by the German Friedrich Ebert Foundation in carrying out development projects in Egypt.

Shoukry gave the remarks during a meeting with head of the foundation Martin Schulz.

Shoukry reviewed during the meeting Egypt’s vision towards regional and international developments, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid tweeted.

Min.: State keen on developing industry of dates in New Valley

Local Development Minister Hesham Amna said on Sunday 2/10/2022 that the Egyptian State, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, is keen on developing the industry of dates in the New Valley governorate.

Addressing the second Egyptian marketing forum for dates in the New Valley governorate, Amna said that political leadership issued directives to increase the cultivation of palm trees and benefit from great potentials of the New Valley governorate.

He stressed that the New Valley is one of Egypt’s promising governorates in the agricultural and industrial investment fields.

PM: Next Thursday, Saturday official holidays on occasion of 6th of October, Mawlid

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has issued a decision that Thursday, October 6, will be an official holiday for civil servants and the private and public business sectors, marking the anniversary of October victory.

He also issued another decision that Saturday, October 8, will be an official holiday for the same sectors, marking Mawlid al-Nabi (Prophet’s Birthday).

Egypt denies reports about a shortage in oncology drugs

Spokesman for the Health and Population Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar has denied reports about a shortage in oncology drugs in Egypt.

These drugs are divided into two types, the first are manufactured and produced locally and the second imported from abroad, he told MBC Egypt TV channel over the phone Saturday night.

Egypt has a stockpile of locally manufactured medicines that is enough to meet its needs for two months and enough raw materials to manufacture medicines for four months, he said.

He pointed out that Egypt is one of the countries with low cancer rates, noting that cancer incidence in Egypt ,

ENA signs cooperation protocol with Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Rear Admiral Mahmoud Adel Fawzy, Director of the Egyptian Naval Academy (ENA), on Sunday 2/10/2022 signed a cooperation protocol with Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Ahmed Abdullah Zayed, to establish an “embassy of knowledge” inside the academy.

The agreement comes within the framework of the Armed Forces’ General Command’s keenness to develop the education system and qualify the cadets of military colleges and institutes, in cooperation with different scientific and cultural institutions.

The protocol, which is the first to be signed with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, aims to encourage the academy’s cadets to develop their skills through using scientific databases available in the embassy of knowledge.

It also allows the academy’s cadets to get acquainted with digital books, scientific research and Digital Assets Repository of the library, as well as attending virtual conferences and scientific meetings.

Egypt Mufti, Cambodia amb. confer on religious cooperation

Egypt’s Mufti Dr Shawqi Allam met on Sunday 2/10/2022 with Cambodia’s new ambassador in Cairo Uk Sarun to discuss means of boosting religious cooperation between the iftaa houses in both countries.

The meeting focused on progress achieved by the Egyptian Iftaa House over the past year.

It also took up efforts exerted by the Egyptian Iftaa House to counter extremism, with an observatory to monitor takfiri fatwas launched in 2014.

The Iftaa House has also issued a magazine, “Insight”, in English to address non-Arabic speaking people and offer a correct image of Islam and its teachings, Allam told Sarun.

The diplomat, for his part, praised the achievements of the Egyptian Iftaa House at all levels.

Sarun said Cambodia needs to train its own muftis to be able to benefit their country.

Environment min. says Al Azhar greatly concerned with climate change

Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad said on Sunday 2/10/2022 that Al Azhar, Egypt’s prestigious religious institution, pays big attention to the issue of climate change.

Al Ahzar is always up to date with social concerns and modernity, the minister said in a speech at the fifth forum on the role played by civil society to face climate change.

The speech was delivered by head of the environmental affairs authority Dr Aly Abu Senna on behalf of Fouad.

Climate change is an existential issue that greatly affects all world countries, Abu Senna noted.

Egypt is taking strides regarding this file, he told the gathering.

The forum comes ahead of an international climate summit, COP27, which will be held in the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh in November.

The COP27 will tackle a number of important files, atop of which the issues of financing and adaptation, Abu Senna said.

Al Azhar University is seeking, through today’s forum, to outline new programs to protect the national security of civil society in the face of climate change.

Azhar, Mali mull means of boosting joint cooperation

Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed El Tayyeb and Malian Ambassador to Egypt Boubacar Diallo probed means of boosting joint cooperation.

Tayyeb stressed the religious institution’s keenness to fulfill the needs of African states by welcoming their students to study at Al Azhar University.

For his part, Diallo extended an invitation from Malian President Assimi Goïta to Tayyeb to visit Mali.

The Malian envoy voiced his country’s appreciation to the role played by Al Azhar in spreading the true image of Islam.
