Egypt, Algeria keen on opening new horizons for economic cooperation

Trade and Industry Minister Nevin Gamea said on Thursday 30/6/2022 that Egypt and Algeria are keen on opening new horizons of cooperation based on strong economic relations binding them.

 

Gamea was delivering a speech on the occasion of the opening of the Egyptian-Algerian Businessmen Economic Forum with the participation of a host of Egyptian and Algerian businessmen.

 

Holding the forum comes in light of challenging economic circumstances, a matter which requires more efforts to boost economic partnership between the two countries, Gamea noted.

 

The minister pointed out that Egypt is ready to offer its expertise in the fields of construction, food industries, textiles, timber, and spare parts.

 

According to her, the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached $787 billion in 2021, a 2% increase compared to 2020. About 22 companies are operating in in Algeria with investments worth $2 billion.

Egypt’s First Lady greets Egyptians on June 30 anniversary

Egypt’s First Lady Entissar El Sisi greeted on Thursday the Egyptian people on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of June 30 Revolution.

 

In a post on her official pages on social media platforms, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s spouse said: “The great Egyptian people spoke with a loud and audible voice, making the world bow with respect to their will.”

 

“On this day, nine years ago, the world bowed in respect to the will of the Egyptian people , who audibly said their word in every part of the country,” She said.

 

“The Egyptians set the best example demonstrating the meanings of perseverance and firmness in protecting homeland and showing loyalty both in words and actions,” she further said.

 

On this precious anniversary of the June 30 Revolution, the Egyptian people still face challenges in all fields to create hope and a safe future for themselves and the coming generations, the President’s spouse went on to say.

 

“I wish Egypt and the Egyptians all peace, safety and security,” she concluded.

Egypt is investment magnet in different domains, PM tells representatives of Algerian sector

Egypt is considered an attractive destination for investments in numerous domains, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli told representatives of the Algerian private sector.

 

Delivering a speech during the Egyptian-Algerian Businessmen Economic Forum, which is held under the rubric “Algeria-Egypt: history…shared visions in serving promising economic partnership”, Madbouli said Egypt wants the private sector to account for 65 percent of all investments in the country within three years, up from around 30 percent at present.

 

“You have a promising market in your second country Egypt..various investment opportunities are waiting for you,” added Madbouli.

 

He further said that unprecedented major national and development projects that are being implemented nationwide provide promising investment opportunities.

 

Egypt also plans to open new spheres for foreign direct investment, including IT, seawater desalination projects, and new and renewable energy, he further said.

 

Talking about the country’s efforts to introduce additional incentives for investors, Madbouli pointed out to the decision which allows the establishment of companies virtually, without obliging them to have a physical headquarters.

 

Efforts are underway to prepare for additional incentives for investors who set up in certain areas, including the New Administrative Capital, New Alamein City, New Mansoura and the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), he further said.

 

The premier, meanwhile, extended his sincere appreciation for the warm reception from all Algerian officials.

 

He also hailed the good organization of the Businessmen Forum and the Egyptian-Algerian High Joint Commission.

 

Speaking during the forum, Madbouli also pointed out to the crucial role played by the private sector in enhancing the economic activity and attaining overall development.

 

Madbouli said it is now a critical stage for the whole world, especially for emerging markets, after the pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis created obstacles to the global business community and the investment climate.

 

Consequently, Egypt is keen on holding consultations with the various governments in order to coordinate policies and exchange experiences and viewpoints to encourage the private sector to carry out more investments.

 

During Madbouli’s visit to Algeria, he held several meetings with senior Algerian officials and signed a number of memoranda of understanding between the two sides.

 

The Egyptian-Algerian High Joint Commission, which was held under the chairmanship of the two counties’ prime ministers, witnessed the signing of 13 agreements in several spheres.

 

The agreements include trade, industry, Awqaf, water resources, higher education and scientific research, environment, small and micro-sized enterprises, bourse and financial supervision along with promoting investments and exports.

The European Union supports Dominica’s efforts to become climate-resilient

Roseau, June 30, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Financial Secretary of the Commonwealth of Dominica had a discussion with the European Union (EU) dignitaries in Brussels, Belgium, on 23 June 23, to discuss Dominica’s journey to becoming the world’s first climate-resilient nation.

Denise Edwards represented the country during the discussions with the European Member of Parliament (MEP) – Stéphane Bijoux, and the new MEP from Martinique Max Orville.

MEP Stéphane Bijoux lauded Dominica’s efforts to become a climate-resilient nation and to promote eco-tourism. He also assured support for the country as it forges ahead with a number of initiatives that will enable it to realise this goal and establish resilient infrastructure to withstand natural catastrophes.

Furthermore, Bijoux asserted, “Climate change is a severe threat that impacts everyone regardless of creed or stature – sadly, Small Island Developing States such as Dominica are bearing the brunt of catastrophic weather patterns. It is our responsibility to partner with developing countries as solidarity is needed in the fight against climate change.”

Dominica has garnered appreciation for promoting as well as encouraging sustainable tourism and preserving its natural assets. The country has been at the frontline of the war against natural disasters, including hurricanes, tropical storms, and cyclones. Additionally, Bijoux mentioned that the country is recovering very well from the global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dominica has been shattered by various hurricanes and tropical storms, and the country has been building back better after 90 percent of its infrastructure was devastated by Tropical Storm Erika (2015) and Hurricane Maria (2017).

The EU provided €8.9 million in financial assistance under the European Development Fund (EDF) to Dominica at the time Tropical Storm Erika hit the country in 2015. In addition to that, the European Commission’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid department also provided €250,000 in emergency humanitarian aid to Dominica following the severe destruction caused by Hurricane Maria, which devastated the island in 2017.

Further, Dominica has also signed the CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), which emphasises development cooperation.

The island nation of Dominica is making the right strides in its quest to become a climate-resilient nation. The construction of its geothermal plant is almost complete.

The plant will enable the country to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels.

In 1992 the United Nations made an urgent call to all countries to tackle climate change amongst other issues and, in 2015 the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were developed.

Dominica is already on its way to achieving six of the 17 SDGs for its nation, these include No Poverty; Good Health and Wellbeing; Affordable and Clean Energy; Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure; Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Climate Action.

As hurricanes become more frequent and more intense, Dominica and other small islands are seeking new opportunities which lie in decarbonisation and renewable energy technologies to aid more sustainable forms of tourism and digitisation of the economy.

The country, which can be counted among the few nations that can be termed “carbon neutral” is enhancing its resilience agenda by utilising resources on the island to generate energy.

The geothermal plant will ensure that the country is powered by renewable energy, reducing energy costs and carbon emissions while simultaneously creating jobs.

Along with the geothermal plant, the island is ensuring that all infrastructure on the island is developed with sustainability and resilience in mind – all buildings from homes to hospitals, are built to withstand weather disasters.

Dominica’s tourism sector is also witnessing a green revitalisation, thanks to the introduction and construction of boutique environmentally sensitive villas and resorts.

الكويت30 يونيو 2022 /PRNewswire/ — احتفلت جائزة سمو الشيخ سالم العلي الصباح للمعلوماتية  بدورتها العشرين وتكريم حضرة صاحب السمو المغفور له الشيخ صباح الأحمد الجابر الصباح أمير دولة الكويت الراحل – طيب الله ثراه – يوم الاثنين الموافق في ٢٧ يونيو ٢٠٢٢ وإلى جانب هذه الفعالية أقيم معرض تحت عنوان “مسيرة الجائزة” الذي قسم الى عدة أجنحة تبرز الانجازات المهمة التي تحققت منذ انطلاقتها عام ٢٠٠١.

وضمن فعالية جائزة سمو الشيخ سالم العلي الصباح للمعلوماتية تمّ منح جوائز لمشاريع رقمية إبداعية ومبتكرة من المملكة العربية السعودية ومملكة البحرين وسلطنة عمان ودولة الكويت. كما كرّم المتطوعون الذين بلغ عددهم 486 من 21 دولة شاركوا في لجان الجائزة وفرق عملها وساهموا في نجاح الجائزة على مدار عشرين سنة وانجازاتها في مجال المعلوماتية والساحة الرقمية من المملكة العربية السعودية والإمارات المتحدة  ودولة  الكويت ومملكة البحرين  ودولة قطر وسلطنة عمان وفلسطين وذلك في احتفالية أخرى أقيمت في قاعة  المعرض بقصر بيان العامر.

وفي تصريح صحفي لسعادة الشيخة عايدة سالم  العلي الصباح رئيس مجلس الأمناء قالت: “إن هذا المعرض وقفة وفاء واعتراف بالمواقف النبيلة للمغفور له أمير دولة الكويت الراحل الذي نعمنا برعايته الكريمة على مدى أربعة عشر عاما وبتوجيهاته الحكيمة ودعمه المستمر وحضوره الكريم لمعظم احتفاليات الجائزة .”

وأضافت سعادتها أن هذا المعرض تزين باسم سموه -رحمه الله- عبر العروض المرئية التي تستحضر تلك المواقف الراسخة في ذاكرتنا، وعبرت عن غامر سعادتها بهذا المعرض الذي أكد دور الجائزة في الإعداد لمجتمع تقني متطور بدأنا نعيشه ونشعر بالحاجة الماسة إليه، والذي كشف عن أبعاد الجائزة الوطنية والعربية والعالمية ومجالاتها المتعددة وأنشطتها.

قسم المعرض “مسيرة الجائزة” الى خمس اجنحة مختلفة كل منها يوثق مرحلة والانجازات التي تحققت على مدار السنوات العشرين:

  1.   جناح جائزة المعلوماتية: أبرز إحصائيات والجوائز التي منحت لأفضل المشاريع التقنية من مواقع إلكترونية وتطبيقات ذكية وأنظمة تقنية، وأفراد، وجهات حكومية وأهلية ومجتمع مدني، وفازت بها معظم الدول العربية.
  2.   ركن شفت الكويت: تتعرف  من خلاله على هذه المسابقة التي خاطبت جميع فئات الشعب في الكويت والوطن العربي والعالم بأسلوب تفاعلي يجعل المشارك عنصراً فاعلاً بالتعامل مع المسابقة كما الزائر الذي يمكنه أن يتعامل مع الأجهزة ويختبر نفسه في بنك ثري من المعلومات الوطنية والتقنية والصحية.
  3.   جناح أكاديمية المعلوماتية: تقدم هذه الأكاديمية دورات مجانية  للطلاب في مدارس التعليم العام فسلحتهم بأساسيات التصنيع الرقمي التي مكنتهم من ابتكار مشروعات ذكية طريفة تقدم خدمات مهمة للمجتمع، وإلى جانب ذلك تأتي مسابقات تقنية في التعليم الجامعي أبرزت مواهبهم وقدراتهم الرقمية وحبهم للمنافسة العلمية المتوجة بإنجازات تقنية مبتكرة. ليس هذا فحسب فجناح أكاديمية المعلوماتية زاخر بالمشاريع المبتكرة للطلاب الذين قدم كل منهم شرحا عن مشروعه والمشكلة المجتمعية التي يسعى إلى حلها مما أثار انتباه الزائرين وثنائهم على هؤلاء الطلاب والتعبير عن تقديرهم لتلك المشاريع الرقمية التي أنتجتها عقول هؤلاء الطلاب على الرغم من صغر سنهم وحداثة خبرتهم.

  4.   جناح الملتقى العالمي للمعلوماتية: يكشف هذا الجناح عن اتساع مساحة عمل الجائزة التي امتدت إلى مشاركة علماء من أنحاء العالم وأبرزت أحدث ما توصل إليه العقل الرقمي من اختراعات ذكية كشفت عنها عنوانات تلك الملتقيات وأسماء الشخصيات التي شاركت في جلساتها وحواراتها وتوصياتها.
  5.   جناح النشاطات الثقافية التوعوية: فقد جذب الزوار أيضاً لما فيه من حيوية الموضوعات التي طرحتها في مجالس الحوار الثمانية، ودواوين المعلوماتية الستة التي عقدتها الجائزة، واستضافت كبار المتخصصين والمهتمين بالشأن المعلوماتي، وتلك النشاطات الثقافية التي احتضنها جناح الجائزة في معرض الكويت الدولي للكتاب لثلاث مرات متتابعة واستقطبت في خدماتها جمهوراً وفيراً من أصحاب العقول الرقمية خاصة والمهتمين بالشأن الثقافي عامة.
