Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, chaired the Ordinary and Extraordinary General Assembly meeting of Misr Ports Company. The assembly gathered significant figures in the maritime sector including Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie, Deputy Minister of Transport for Maritime Transport Nihad Shahin, and Assistant Minister for Maritime Transport Engineer Mohamed Fathy, alongside heads of contributing entities and members of the Board of Directors.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Qader Darwish, Chairman of the Company, presented the consolidated financial statements for the Egyptian Maritime Ports Company, covering the period from July 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024. These financial documents, along with their supplementary notes, received approval from both the Central Auditing Organization and the company’s auditor.
The meeting also highlighted significant performance indicators for 2025, revealing that the terminal had received 464 ships, handling a total volume of approximately 800,000 TEUs. This marked a 41% increase compared to the previous year, positioning Alexandria Port as a crucial transit hub in the Eastern Mediterranean, responsible for managing about 40% of the region’s traffic. Furthermore, the Chairman discussed the company’s future expansion plans and projects, indicating ongoing growth and development within the sector.
