Cairo: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi recently met with Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio, chairman of Abercrombie and Kent Travel Group and head of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), to discuss fostering cooperation between the ministry and WTTC and boosting tourism investments in Egypt. The meeting was part of Lefebvre's visit to Egypt for the official opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions focused on positioning Egypt as a top global tourism destination through strategic collaboration. The meeting included exploring the feasibility of Egypt hosting WTTC events and increasing investments from Abercrombie and Kent in the country.Fathi emphasized the state's role in supporting tourism investments, expanding hotel capacity, and regulating the Holiday Homes accommodation model to ensure high-quality services. He also highlighted the importance of partnership with the private tourism sector to improve services at archaeological sites and enhance Egypt's competitiveness as a global destination.
