Tayyeb Emphasizes Islam’s Role in Honoring Women’s Rights

Cairo: Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el-Tayyeb asserted that Islam has honored women, safeguarded their dignity, and guaranteed them their full rights. He emphasized that Eastern women have the potential to exert significant influence and bring about positive change across various aspects of life.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Tayyeb made these remarks during a meeting with Libyan Minister of State for Women’s Affairs Houria Tarmal. He highlighted the challenges facing Eastern women, noting that there are concerted efforts to invade their minds, alienate them, and distance them from their religion and moral value system. He warned about attempts to marginalize their role in society, making them more susceptible to external control.

The Libyan minister expressed her appreciation for the Grand Imam’s efforts in altering the incorrect stereotypical perceptions of Islam. Tarmal emphasized the importance of raising awareness about women’s rights in Islam among younger generations and called for media platforms to fulfill their role in this regard. She also highlighted the need for clear strategies to empower women, strengthen their societal presence, and address the unspoken challenges facing Eastern women.
