Cairo: Under the directives of the political leadership and in continuation of Egypt’s leading role in supporting the Palestinian brothers, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, represented by the General Committee for Foreign Aid, announced the dispatch of relief convoy No. 15 to the Gaza Strip. The convoy, organized in cooperation with the Catholic Relief Agency, was sent today, on Sunday, 21 December, 2025, to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Convoy No. 15 is part of a series of Egyptian relief efforts initiated by the Foreign Aid Committee since the outbreak of the crisis. The convoy carries critical relief items, including 12,000 mattresses, 16,300 blankets, and 4,000 mats, with a total weight of approximately 136 tonnes. These supplies are intended to meet the basic needs of Gaza’s residents and help alleviate their suffering amid challenging humanitarian conditions.
Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to intensifying cooperation with international organizations to ensure the swift delivery of assistance. He noted that this latest convoy is part of a series of shipments the ministry has facilitated since the crisis began. To date, the ministry has dispatched 15 relief convoys in collaboration with the Catholic Relief Agency, delivering around 1,766 tonnes of humanitarian aid via 255 lorries and five aircraft. The aid has included essential items such as tents, blankets, mattresses, woven mats, hygiene supplies, and household goods, reinforcing Egypt’s ongoing support for the Palestinian people.
Dr. Farouk reiterated Egypt’s dedication to providing comprehensive humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, stressing that the ministry will continue coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure a steady flow of assistance to ease the suffering of residents in the Strip.
Mr. Ahmed Fathy, Vice-Chairman of the Board of the General Committee for Foreign Aid, stated that the current convoy extends the committee’s efforts to offer continuous support and strengthen cooperation with donor entities. He explained that the convoy’s contents were meticulously prepared to address the daily needs of Gaza’s population under current humanitarian conditions.
The vice-chairman confirmed that, in partnership with the Catholic Relief Agency and its office in Gaza, the urgent relief needs are being assessed to guide the preparation and deployment of future convoys. This approach ensures that aid is accurately targeted to meet the priorities and requirements of the people in the Gaza Strip.
