State Min. for Military Production: Boosting Exports Top Priority to Secure Foreign Currency

El-salam city: Minister of State for Military Production Salah Suleiman Gamblat affirmed on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, that the proposed budget for the coming fiscal year aims to strengthen the ministry's role in supplying the Armed Forces and Police with weapons, ammunition, equipment, and advanced electronic systems. The plan also seeks to localize cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and align with global developments in artificial intelligence.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister highlighted plans to optimally utilize surplus production capacities in affiliated companies to manufacture high-quality civilian products at competitive prices. He also underlined increasing contributions to national projects that support comprehensive and sustainable development, as well as expanding cooperation with local and international private sector partners.

Gamblat made the remarks while chairing the general assembly meetings to review the proposed planning budgets for companies and units affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production for the fiscal year 2026/2027. The meetings, held at the Ministry's training sector in El-Salam City, were attended by senior officials from the Central Auditing Organization, the ministries of planning and finance, the Armed Forces, company boards, union representatives, and ministry and National Authority of Military Production leaders.

The meetings focused on discussing future plans for each company and unit and strategies for their implementation. The minister said expanding exports is a key objective for reducing import bills and generating foreign currency, a cornerstone for national development. Egypt is at a strategic juncture due to global challenges affecting supply chains, growth rates, energy prices, inflation, and the world economy, stressing the need for coordinated efforts to strengthen the national economy, he added.

During the discussions, the minister issued directives to company and unit boards to develop production lines, upgrade standard products, and introduce new products, particularly smart weapons capable of efficiently countering cyber and conventional threats. The minister also stressed the necessity of continuous investment in human capital and improving performance and quality standards, and implementing administrative reforms and safeguarding assets.

He underlined the importance of adhering to project timelines and applying governance principles to maximize returns and enhance contributions to the national economy. Over the two-day meetings, boards presented proposed budgets for fiscal year 2026/2027, compared with expected outcomes for 2025/2026 and achievements in 2024/2025, covering revenues, finished production, net sales, inventory, workforce, wages, and raw materials. The proposed revenues for 2026/2027 are EGP 66.78 billion, with projected profits of EGP 18.04 billion.
