Social Solidarity and Labor Ministers Discuss Mechanisms to Streamline Insurance for Irregular Workers

Cairo: Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy and Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad engaged in discussions on mechanisms to facilitate insurance coverage for irregular workers. The meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination and institutional integration between the Ministries of Social Solidarity and Labor and the National Organization for Social Insurance. This aims to streamline social insurance procedures for irregular workers, ensuring them comprehensive social protection and sustainable support.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the two sides agreed to study the implementation of a proposal submitted by the minister of labor. This proposal involves providing full support and facilitation from the ministry, focusing on expedited issuance of skill-level certificates and professional practice licenses while exempting certain cases from the prescribed fees, in accordance with applicable legal regulations.

The meeting also addressed enhancing cooperation and electronic linkage between the two ministries' databases, particularly in vocational training. It included integrating persons with disabilities into the labor market and offering training opportunities for children and families of beneficiaries of the 'Takaful and Karama' program.

Additionally, it was agreed to include the Ministry of Labor in the Strategic Financial System for Economic Empowerment program, led by the Minister of Social Solidarity. This supports economic empowerment and financial inclusion efforts for beneficiaries of the 'Takaful and Karama' program.

The meeting concluded with both ministers emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination in joint areas of work. They agreed to sign a cooperation protocol between the two ministries to expand collaboration across several sectors.
