Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call Saturday 31/1/2026 from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, official spokesman for the Presidency Mohamed El-Shenawy said. The call addressed developments in the Iranian nuclear program, where President Sisi voiced Egypt’s deep concern regarding the escalating tension in the region. He emphasized the need to avoid escalation and reject military solutions, stressing that diplomatic solutions are the only and optimal way to settle the crisis in a manner that ensures sparing the Middle East region further tension and instability.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the spokesman explained that President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s continued efforts to bring the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table to reach a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Iranian nuclear program in a way that enhances regional and international stability. President Sisi expressed Egypt’s aspiration for the concerned parties to uphold the value of dialogue to overcome differences and reach a comprehensive settlement, stressing Egypt’s support for all efforts made in this regard.
The official spokesman also indicated that the Iranian president expressed his thanks and great appreciation for the positive role played by Egypt in avoiding escalation and maintaining security and stability in the region, affirming his country’s keenness to enhance consultation and political coordination with Egypt in a way that serves to support regional stability.
