Sisi Urges Trump to Attend Gaza Ceasefire Signing Ceremony

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has renewed his invitation to US President Donald Trump to attend the signing of a Gaza ceasefire agreement between the Palestinians and Israel. During a meeting at the Ittihadiya Palace with US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner, Sisi expressed appreciation for the ceasefire agreement and highlighted the efforts of President Trump in facilitating the process.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Sisi underscored Cairo’s commitment to continue working closely with the US to ensure the implementation of Trump’s Gaza plan. He emphasized the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza, urging that the formal signing of the agreement should not delay the end of violence. Sisi conveyed his confidence that the US delegation’s visit would help finalize a deal that addresses the concerns of all parties involved.

President Sisi praised the mediation efforts from Turkey, the US, and Qatar, which supported Egypt’s role in the Sharm El-Sheikh ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas. He pledged Egypt’s continued efforts to enforce the ceasefire, ensure the entry of humanitarian aid, and secure the release of hostages and detainees. Sisi expressed gratitude to all parties involved, acknowledging that the achievement of this ceasefire deal would have been impossible without Trump’s leadership and determination.

Witkoff and Kushner, who have been in Egypt’s Red Sea city of Sharm El-Sheikh to participate in the negotiations, reiterated the US appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in ending the conflict and restoring stability in the region. They acknowledged that Egypt’s determination and skilled negotiation team were crucial to reaching the agreement. The ceasefire agreement was announced after four days of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel, with mediation from Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, and the US.

US Special Envoy Witkoff stated that President Trump is considering a visit to Egypt next week to meet with President Sisi. He expressed appreciation for Sisi’s leadership and noted Egypt’s critical role in reaching the Gaza ceasefire deal. Meanwhile, Jared Kushner expressed optimism that the agreement would lead to broader regional cooperation.
