Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Transport Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir to discuss significant infrastructure developments in Egypt. The meeting focused on the progress of various transport and port projects across the country.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the President reviewed the master plan for the development of Damietta Port and ongoing projects. Discussions also included updates on the development, expansion, and upgrading of the 116-kilometer Ring Road around Greater Cairo and the maintenance of the 6th of October Bridge. The Minister of Transport shared efforts to expand environmentally friendly mass transit systems, highlighting the second phase of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The Minister also reported on the advancement of the Nile River Bus development in Greater Cairo and preparations for the East Nile Monorail launch. Updates on the high-speed electric train network and the relocation plan for the Alexandria-Matrouh railway line were presented. The progress of the sixth metro line project was also reviewed.
Further discussions covered the comprehensive plan to develop Egypt's maritime transport industry, a key element of Egypt's Vision 2030. The Minister outlined projects for developing seaports, including constructing berths, building breakwaters, and dredging navigation channels. Enhancing cooperation with African countries, particularly Djibouti and Tanzania, was also addressed, underlining Egypt's commitment to supporting development in Africa.
President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of completing transport projects on schedule and to high standards. He stressed the need to localize the transport industry and develop Egypt's port network, aiming to utilize the country's infrastructure and create more job opportunities.
