PM Witnesses Signing of Largest Spectrum Deal in Egypt’s Telecom History

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Saturday 7/2/2026, witnessed the signing of the largest spectrum allocation deal in Egypt's telecommunications sector history. The deal was inked during a ceremony held at Mohamed Ali Palace in Cairo's Shubra district under the supervision of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreement stipulates the allocation of 410 MHz of new spectrum to Egypt's four mobile operators, with a total value of around $3.5 billion. This allocation is equivalent to the total spectrum assigned since the launch of mobile services in Egypt. The agreement comes within the framework of the National Spectrum Strategy (2026-2030) and aims to promote the sustainability and growth of telecom infrastructure, improve service quality, strengthen 5G services, and increase market competitiveness and digital readiness.

Communications Minister Amr Talaat stated that the deal marks an unprecedented milestone for the sector, doubling spectrum capacity in a single step and ensuring network readiness for future digital applications, following the launch of 5G services in June 2025. The move is expected to meet growing demand for data services, support digital innovation, and reinforce Egypt's position as a regional hub for communications and information technology.
