PM Welcomes Hamas Approval of US Gaza Ceasefire Plan

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli welcomed Hamas’s approval of the US ceasefire plan for Gaza, describing it as an important step toward ending the war and launching serious negotiations. He said that the move could lead to a permanent ceasefire, prevent the displacement of Palestinians, and allow the reconstruction of Gaza while keeping residents in their homes.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Premier made his remarks during a press conference after inaugurating upgraded factories at El Nasr Pharmaceutical Chemicals Company in Qalyubia. He stated that the plant, founded in 1960, had long suffered financial losses but has been revived and is now producing essential drugs and medical supplies, with expectations to turn a profit this year for the first time in decades.

During his visit, Madbouli toured facilities producing raw materials, oral medicines, IV solutions, and other pharmaceutical products. He stressed that Egypt already produces more than 90 percent of its medicines and is expanding into advanced fields such as cancer treatments, enabling prices to remain far below global levels and ensuring access for lower-income citizens.

Madbouli also addressed concerns over rising Nile waters, explaining that flooded areas are state-owned riverbanks illegally occupied for farming and construction. He noted that emergency aid is being provided to affected residents and reiterated that such flooding is a natural occurrence during high water levels.

The prime minister concluded by thanking teams behind the factory’s modernization and expressed optimism about expanding the company’s operations to better serve Egypt’s medical needs.
