Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli highlighted the critical need to maintain secure strategic reserves of petroleum products during a recent meeting, emphasizing energy security as a fundamental component of national security.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli convened this meeting to evaluate the energy sector's preparedness in response to escalating military tensions in the region. Key attendees included Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi. The discussions focused on assessing the readiness of the energy sector and reviewing the pre-emptive measures implemented by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies for domestic needs.
Minister Karim Badawi provided an overview of the precautionary measures taken in collaboration with relevant state bodies. These include diversifying gas supply sources, securing long-term agreements with international companies, and enhancing infrastructure for LNG imports. Badawi also emphasized efforts to boost domestic production by settling partners' dues and promoting exploration activities.
Furthermore, Badawi assured the full readiness to supply necessary gas for both household and industrial consumption. He also highlighted ongoing initiatives to increase the availability of petroleum products and maintain strategic reserves of gasoline, diesel, butane, and other essential resources.
