Cairo: New Administrative Capital: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli stressed that the state deals with the subsidy file as one of the vital issues that directly affect citizens’ lives. He emphasized that developing the system aims to achieve the highest levels of social justice and enhance the efficiency of public spending while considering various economic and social dimensions.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the prime minister’s remarks came during a meeting at the government’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) with Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk. The meeting focused on the latest developments in the subsidy system.
During the meeting, the minister of supply reviewed the executive status of the ‘Unified Card’ system in the Port Said governorate, recognized as a pioneering governorate in implementing the system. He also discussed the progress in updating beneficiary data, which is part of a plan for gradual nationwide expansion. This initiative aims to unify databases and strengthen the governance of the subsidy system.
The minister outlined the criteria for achieving social justice and the rules governing subsidy eligibility for beneficiaries of the ration card commodities system and the bread system. The goal is to ensure subsidies are directed to the most needy segments, achieve optimal use of resources, and maintain the stability of both systems.
In response, the prime minister directed continued coordination between the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade and all relevant entities. He called for ongoing technical and organizational work and the presentation of results to take necessary steps in developing the subsidy system.
