Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli met with Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el Hefny to review plans for developing EgyptAir, which include fleet modernization, network expansion, and service improvement.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during the meeting, the minister outlined a strategy to acquire new aircraft and upgrade the existing ones, which includes refurbishing the cabins of 19 planes. The plan also includes adding 34 modern, fuel-efficient aircraft, increasing EgyptAir’s fleet to 97 planes by the 2030/2031 fiscal year to support new routes, higher flight frequencies, and improved passenger services.
During the talks, Madbouli was briefed on EgyptAir’s route network plan through 2031 and recent performance gains. The national carrier was named Best Airline in Africa for passenger services in 2025 by Skytrax and improved its global ranking to 68th among the world’s top 100 airlines, its highest position to date.
Upgrades to passenger lounges at Cairo International Airport, including the opening of the largest lounge in Africa, and improvements in onboard catering were also reviewed.
