PM Madbouly Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Private Sector in Economic Growth

Cairo: The government aims to continue efforts to enhance the role of the private sector as a key partner in achieving sustainable economic growth, creating more jobs and boosting the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy at the regional and international levels, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the remarks came during a meeting chaired by Madbouly to review the updated edition of the State Ownership Policy Document. The meeting, held on March 17, 2026, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom, and other senior officials.

Madbouly stated that the update of the document is essential for assessing the implementation of its previous version and evaluating its impact on private sector participation in the national economy. The updated version aims to further integrate private sector involvement to drive economic growth.

Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Information and Decision Support Center Osama el Gohary provided a review of developments related to the second updated edition of the document. This review covered progress since October 2025, the preparation and revision process, and proposed future directions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Madbouly directed that the draft of the second edition of the document be submitted to the Cabinet after the Eid Al Fitr holiday. It will then be opened for public discussion with investors and experts. Following these discussions, a final version will be prepared and submitted to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for approval.
