PM Invites Eni to Expand Investments in Egypt’s Oil and Gas Sector

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli affirmed the government's commitment to creating an attractive investment climate for foreign investments in the oil and gas sectors, pledging full support for international companies operating in Egypt. He also expressed his aspiration for Italy's Eni to expand its investments in Egypt in the coming period, particularly in light of the promising opportunities in the country's oil and gas sectors. According to State Information Service Egypt, this came during Madbouli's meeting on Monday, March 30, 2026, with Eni's Chief Operating Officer Global Natural Resources and General Manager Guido Brusco. The meeting was attended by Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi, on the sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2026), which kicked off earlier in the day in its ninth edition and runs until April 1 under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Madbouli underscored the importance of the strategic partnership between the Egyptian government and the Italian company in oil and gas production. He also expressed his hope to accelerate production from Eni's natural gas projects in Egypt to help meet growing domestic demand, stressing that Eni is a highly trusted partner. For his part, Brusco voiced appreciation for the fruitful cooperation with the Egyptian government, praising the economic reforms implemented in recent years, which have improved the investment climate and boosted international investor confidence. He reaffirmed Eni's commitment to continuing its operations in Egypt and expanding exploration activities, as well as supporting efforts to increase production from existing fields to meet local demand and enhance exports. Brusco noted that Eni's strategy is based on intensifying exploration efforts, accelerating production from current projects in Egypt, and maintaining its social responsibility role, particularly in the health sector. He added that agreements will be signed with the Health Ministry on Monday to provide 400 beds at a medical fa cility serving around one million people, as part of the company's social responsibility efforts, noting that Eni also plans to inject new investments worth $2 billion in Egypt during 2026.
