PM Engages with Petroleum Minister on Expanding Oil and Gas Discoveries

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi on Thursday, November 13, 2025, to discuss several key files related to the ministry's work.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during the meeting, which took place in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), Minister Badawi outlined the ministry's strategic plans and efforts aimed at expanding oil and gas discoveries across Egypt. The primary goal is to satisfy domestic demand for petroleum products by intensifying production, exploration, and development activities in collaboration with international companies.

Minister Badawi emphasized the ministry's commitment to integrating the latest technologies in research, exploration, and production sectors. He highlighted both ongoing and newly initiated activities related to exploration and drilling, which are intended to enhance Egypt's production capacity.

In the course of the discussions, he mentioned the recent announcement by Badr El Din Petroleum Company (BAPETCo) regarding a new gas discovery in the Badr-15 area located in the Western Desert. He pointed out that this discovery is a significant step in the ministry's broader strategy to stimulate investment, aimed at gradually increasing production, reducing imports, and maximizing the nation's gas reserves.
