PM Directs Optimal Utilization of State Assets in Tourism Sector


Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Sunday, October 19, 2025, issued directives for ensuring the optimal use and development of the state’s assets, particularly in the tourism sector, with the aim of increasing hotel capacity and doubling the number of tourists visiting Egypt. Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting he held with Minister of Public Business Sector Mohamed Shimy to review investment opportunities in the tourism and construction sectors. The meeting was attended by Amr Attia, Chairman of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels, and Mostafa el Kady, CEO of Emaar Misr for Development.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the prime minister emphasized the objective of the meeting was to explore investment opportunities in these sectors and promote partnerships with the private sector. This initiative aligns with the State Ownership Policy Document, aiming to inject investments to develop these assets and ensure their effective, well-governed management. Minister Shimy highlighted the Ministry of Public Business Sector’s commitment to maximizing the value of its assets, developing them, and investing in them to generate economic and tourism returns for the country.



Shimy also reviewed investment opportunities in the tourism and construction sectors, focusing on assets suitable for hotel projects. Among these assets is the Cosmopolitan building, owned by the Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels (EGOTH). The building is distinguished by its unique architectural details and growing historical and cultural value, making it an exceptional attraction compared to modern hotels. Additionally, Shimy discussed investment prospects within companies affiliated with the ministry.
