Planning Minister Explores Economic Cooperation with Lebanese Economy Minister


Cairo: Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat met with Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat to discuss joint cooperation during the 10th session of the Egyptian-Lebanese Joint Higher Committee, co-chaired by the ministries of both countries.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Al-Mashat emphasized the strong political understanding and historical ties between Egypt and Lebanon, outlining the directives from Egypt’s leadership to enhance economic and trade relations. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s interest in elevating relations with Lebanon to a strategic partnership was also highlighted, with a focus on regular meetings of the Joint Higher Committee to coordinate economic policies.



Al-Mashat noted that the committee’s 10th session could open new opportunities for cooperation and reiterated Egypt’s support for Lebanon’s efforts to achieve security and development. She discussed collaboration in economic policymaking and development fields and expressed the readiness of Egyptian companies to aid in Lebanon’s reconstruction, citing their success in major national projects.



Bisat expressed Lebanon’s desire to expand cooperation with Egypt and learn from its development experience. He invited Al-Mashat to the First Beirut Investment Conference to boost investment in Lebanon. Both ministers stressed the importance of continued coordination to implement the committee’s outcomes and deepen bilateral relations.



The 9th session saw the signing of agreements in various fields, and trade between the nations increased significantly in 2024.
