Cairo: The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced an increase in the prices of petroleum products and vehicle fueling gas by EGP 3, with the new pricing list taking effect starting 3:00 am on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the new pricing sets the price of 95-octane gasoline at EGP 24 per liter, 92-octane gasoline at EGP 22.25 per liter, and 80-octane gasoline at EGP 20.75 per liter. The price of diesel oil has risen to EGP 20.5 per liter, while natural gas used for vehicle fueling reached EGP 13 per cubic meter.
The decision also includes adjustments to the prices of butane gas cylinders, with the 12.5-kg cylinder priced at EGP 275, and the 25-kg cylinder at EGP 550. A statement from the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources explained that these decisions are in response to exceptional conditions facing global energy markets due to geopolitical tensions. These conditions have led to a noticeable increase in the costs of import, production, and shipping, placing unprecedented pressure on supply chains and global insurance costs.
In response to these challenges, the State is working to enhance domestic production, advance exploration activities, and develop Egypt's oil and gas resources. This effort includes encouraging investment partners to expand their operations as part of reducing the import bill. The ministry emphasized that the government is closely monitoring market developments and costs to ensure the sustainability of petroleum and gas supplies for citizens and all sectors of the state.
The ministry further stressed that any exceptional measures being taken are part of a responsible management of current international challenges, while maintaining energy security and the stability of the domestic market as a top priority.
