Petroleum Ministry: MIDOR Refined Over 49 Mln Barrels of Crude Oil in 2025

Cairo: The Middle East Oil Refinery Company (MIDOR) announced refining more than 49 million barrels of crude oil in 2025, compared with around 47 million barrels in 2024, boosting output to approximately 6.6 million tons of diversified petroleum products, up from about 6.1 million tons in the previous year.According to State Information Service Egypt, during its general assembly meeting to approve 2025 results, the company stated it had reached full production capacity following a comprehensive overhaul of its processing units, operating at up to 170,000 barrels per day. It also launched kerosene processing activities for the first time and continued exporting high-quality jet fuel to generate hard currency revenues.Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi said MIDOR's operation at maximum production capacity represents a qualitative leap and significant added value for Egypt's petroleum sector. MIDOR's operation at maximum production capacity would increase the availability of high-qualit y petroleum products in the domestic market and reduce reliance on imports, thereby lowering the fuel import bill, the minister added.Badawi described MIDOR as a leading refinery hub not only in Egypt but across the Middle East and Africa, highlighting its pivotal role in supplying premium petroleum products to both local and export markets. He praised the technical performance in executing the comprehensive overhaul of production units, alongside full compliance with occupational health and safety requirements and safeguarding employees, stressing the protection of human capital remains a top priority for the petroleum sector.Badwai also underlined the importance of continued adherence to health, safety and environmental standards, including raising employee awareness in line with the operational nature of major refining facilities such as MIDOR. The minister commended the company's five-year plan, with a view to introducing new commercial activities to maximize added value, notably a project to convert Sulfur produced from refining operations into high-quality NPK compound fertilizer, supporting the agricultural sector and enhancing food security.
