Palestine’s VP Acknowledges Sisi’s Key Role in Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received a phone call on Thursday, 9/10/2025, from Vice President of the State of Palestine Hussein Al-Sheikh to discuss recent developments following the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip. Al-Sheikh expressed deep appreciation for President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s pivotal role in securing the ceasefire agreement, thanking him for his tireless efforts to end the war and safeguard Palestinian rights.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Al-Sheikh stressed that the agreement would not have been possible without Egypt’s facilitation and sponsorship of the negotiations, voicing pride in the Egyptian people’s steadfast support for their Palestinian brothers. The discussion also addressed the agreement’s core provisions and forthcoming arrangements, including the role of the Palestinian Authority in the next phase.

Abdelatty emphasized the need for international support to strengthen the Palestinian Authority as the legitimate governing body, enabling it to assume its responsibilities effectively. He expressed hope that the agreement would help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, enhance the delivery of humanitarian aid, and pave the way for early recovery and reconstruction efforts in the enclave.
