Cairo: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr. Hani Sewilam convened a meeting to evaluate the progress of digital transformation within the ministry, focusing on the second generation of the irrigation system, known as Irrigation 2.0.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Sewilam emphasized the ministry’s commitment to enhancing digital reliance by developing a suite of 27 applications and databases through its main information center. These tools incorporate geographic information systems (GIS) to monitor and assess performance indicators across the ministry’s departments.
The ministry announced the completion of the first phase of an electronic system for groundwater licenses, with plans underway to initiate the licensing system. Additionally, a mobile application has been created to gather data related to canals and drains.
