Minister of Health Receives French Ambassador to Enhance Health Cooperation

Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met Éric Chevallier, Ambassador of France to Egypt, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector. The Minister highlighted the depth of Egyptian-French relations, particularly in vital sectors such as healthcare, and expressed his aspiration to expand partnership efforts in support of development priorities and mutual interests.According to State Information Service Egypt, discussions covered Egypt's ongoing medical and humanitarian support for Palestinian patients and the wounded arriving from Gaza, with the Minister reaffirming Egypt's commitment to providing comprehensive care. The two sides reviewed cooperation to upgrade 35 primary healthcare units in Minya and Kafr El-Sheikh in partnership with the French Development Agency (AFD) and Expertise France, aimed at improving infrastructure, technical support and service quality. They also discussed coordination mechanisms, financing frameworks and timelines for the programme, as well as cooperation under the Universal Health Insurance System and ongoing upgrades to healthcare centres in Delta governorates in cooperation with the World Bank.The French Ambassador expressed appreciation for the meeting and affirmed France's commitment to enhancing health cooperation and supporting humanitarian efforts through the provision of medical equipment and medicines.
