Joint Statement Issued to Address Media Practices Affecting Egypt and Arab Relations

Cairo: The State Ministry of Information and several Egyptian media authorities have released a joint statement addressing recent negative media practices affecting relations between Egypt and certain Arab countries.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the joint statement was issued following an invitation from the Minister of State for Information. The participating entities include the State Ministry of Information, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, the National Press Authority, and the National Media Authority.

The statement emphasizes the longstanding relationship between Egypt and Arab countries currently facing Iranian aggression, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, and Jordan. It highlights that these ties, which exist at various levels including leadership and popular connections, have been strengthened by historical events and are vital to safeguarding the interests of the Arab nation.

The statement condemns any attempts to undermine these relations, describing such actions as crimes against the collective national interest of the Arab nation. It calls on media professionals in Egypt and the involved countries to cease disputes and actions that do not reflect the fraternal spirit shared among them.

Furthermore, it urges intellectual elites and opinion leaders to help extinguish discord and block incitement attempts that serve only adversaries of the Arab nation. Citizens are advised to be wary of rumors and false information circulating on social media and to rely on official statements from relevant authorities.

The statement also declares that effective immediately, Egyptian authorities will use all legal provisions to regulate media performance to prevent offenses against brotherly countries and protect national interests. Similar measures are requested from authorities in the Arab countries mentioned to maintain unity and protect relationships with Egypt.

The joint statement concludes with a call for unity and solidarity, hoping for protection from harm and challenges.
